Brief me on today's economic data releases
A weekday brief on econ releases with numbers, surprises, and the takeaway
Each weekday morning, check today's US economic calendar using the FRED release calendar plus a major calendar like MarketWatch or Investing.com. Establish what's already out this morning and what lands later today — CPI, jobs report, GDP, claims, Fed speakers, FOMC. For anything already released: the headline number, consensus expectation, prior reading, and whether it surprised. For releases still ahead: the time and one line on why markets care. Skip minor series unless the day is empty. Weight toward [focus areas, e.g. inflation, labor market, rate expectations]. Write an executive brief under 250 words: a two-sentence synthesis up top — what today's data actually means for [my angle, e.g. rate-cut odds] — then a tight bulleted rundown with the numbers. No filler, no hedging boilerplate. If nothing meaningful is scheduled, say so in one line and stop.
